Hawaiian music was the first music for lap steel and it is still a wonderful and very satisfying repertoire to explore. These five tunes feature a variety of moods from Hawaiian swing, to Tin Pan Alley, to 1940s and 50s-style romantic Hawaiian ballads.

1. Hoe Hoe Na Wa’Wa

2. Lovely Hula Hands

3. Nalani

4. On The Beach (at Waikiki)

5. Waikiki

All the songs are in C6th tuning with the exception of “Lovely Hula Hands” which is in C6/A7 tuning where the only difference is that string #6 is raised one half step to C#. This gives us a handy dominant seventh chord on the bottom four strings.

C6th Tuning (low to high): C, E, G, A, C, E

C6th/A7 Tuning (low to high): C#, E, G, A, C, E
