ARRANGED FOR LAP STEEL IN STANDARD NOTATION & TABLATURE (audio sample below)
Caroline No is one of the most beautiful tunes on the Beach Boy’s classic LP Pet Sounds. It was co-written by Brian Wilson and Tony Asher. It was originally composed in the key of C major before being transposed up one semitone into D-flat major for the recording.
My arrangement in the key of C uses a mix of chords, dyads and single notes to deliver the song’s simple, poignant melody. The accompaniment uses several “slash chords” which are simply chords over a specific bass note.
