Old French is a traditional Canadian/American fiddle tune. It’s a fun melody to play on any instrument. For lap steel players, it makes a great single note exercise to practice picking, blocking and phrasing.

My arrangement is in two tunings: Open D and C6th. Both offer opportunities to incorporate open strings, hammer-ons and pull-offs and glides between notes. It’s a challenge to play at speed so a slow and fast version is presented for each tuning.
