STEEL GUITAR RAG - OPEN D (or OPEN E) TUNING (PDF Digital Download)
Steel Guitar Rag is a classic Western Swing instrumental credited with popularizing the steel guitar in Western Swing bands. It is credited to steel guitar legend Leon McAuliffe but almost certainly, was based on “Guitar Rag” recorded by standard guitarist Sylvester Weaver in 1927. The song remains a favorite instrumental for steel players, with electric versions commonly played in C6th or A6th tuning and acoustic versions popularly played in Open D, E and G tunings. My arrangment is intended for acoustic steel but can, of course, be played on electric with proper attention to blocking technique.
