Blue Moon is a classic popular song written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934. It became a hot in the 30s, 40s and finally, in the 60s when it went to #1 for the doo-wop group The Marcels. “Blue Moon” has been covered by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Cindy Lauper and The Cowboy Junkies. My arrangement paraphrases the melody and diverges in various ways to make this an interpretation of the tune rather than being 100% faithful to the melody on the sheet music. The ending features a jazzy sequence of descending 9th chords down to a final major 6/9 chord.
C6th Tuning: C, E, G, A, C, E
