Django Reinhardt’s place is secure as one of the greatest improvising musicians of all time. Django recorded Blues for Ike in March, 1953 at his final recording session. Over this standard blues form, Reinhardt flies, spewing fabulous arpeggios and bebop-influenced lines. In form, the song is a conventional blues progression with a two-bar turnaround. For the final ending, Django tags on a four-bar progression with be-bop-approved flat five harmonies leading back to the final one chord.
This is my arrangement of the identical melody in two tunings: C6 and A6. This is the melody only; not a transcription of Django’s solo.
