Dirty Old Bossa Nova is a tune in the key of Ab written by jazz guitar icon Howard Roberts and first released on his 1963 LP “H.R. is a Dirty Guitar Player.” It’s not really a Bossa Nova but in fact, more of a funky, bluesy tune in the key of Ab with unusual chord changes. In arranging it for lap steel, I used a mix of single notes and double stop harmonies to lay out the funky melody. It makes a fun tune to play in C6th tuning.
