Hula Boogie appears on Capitol Records E-20 (International) series of transcription discs likely recorded in the mid to late 1940s. Steel guitarist Bernie Kaai Lewis recorded over 600 sessions as a vocalist, arranger and steel guitarist on numerous labels.

The tuning Kaai used is unclear but the tune seems to lay out perfectly in the A6th tuning. I did my best to transcribe Kaai’s swinging, syncopated riffs which, taken in small bites, can be plugged into other swing oriented songs. This tune works on both 6 or 8 string versions of A6th.
