Just the Way You Are is a song writen by Billy Joel for his fifth studio album ‘The Stranger’ (1977). The song also topped the Billboard Easy Listening Chart for the entire month of January 1978. In 1979, “Just the Way You Are” garnered two Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

  My arrangement for lap steel uses all the tools of chord melody including single notes, double stops and triad chords. There are many places where vibrato on sustained notes and chords can help maximize the vocal qualities of the lap steel.
