Little Boat [ O Barquinho ] is a Bossa Nova standard written by Roberto Menescal in 1961. Its lilting chromatic melody and chord progression that descends in whole steps make it memorable and unique.
This arrangment uses Dmaj7 tuning, a simple alteration of the standard Open D tuning where we simply lower the first string from D to C#. This simple change allows for some sophisticated new harmonic possibilities.
