“Creole Belle” was written by J. Bodewell Lampe and George Sidney in 1901 and poularized many years later by Mississippi John Hurt. It’s typically heard on standard guitar using a drop-thumb, syncopated fingerstyle pattern that you can hear in a song like Doc Watson’s “Deep River Blues”. Another is Elizabeth Cotten’s “Freight Train”. My arrangement for acoustic lap steel borrows the drop-tumb, alternating bass style but adds in some idiomatic steel guitar techniques like slides and vibrato.
