“The Sound of Silence” is a classic folk rock song and one of the most recognizable songs of the 1960s. It was written by Paul Simon and recorded by Simon & Garfunkel in March of 1964. Along with the rest of the “Sounds of Silence” album, the song was added to the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically important”. My arrangement is a basic chord melody that proves that a great song needs little in the way of embellishment.
