WEAR A LEI was composed by the Hawaiian steel guitarist and vocalist Pua Almeida. It’s a beautiful ballad that lays out perfectly on the B11th fretboard. My version owes a debt to steel guitarist John Ely who recorded a gorgeous version in 1990s and provided me with a lead sheet for the tune.

B 11th tuning is one of the most beautiful tunings used in non-pedal steel guitar playing.  It’s lush, closely-voiced intervals offer a palette of sounds and moods that few other tunings can match.
