White Rabbit is an iconic song written by Grace Slick and recorded by the band Jefferson Airplane for their 1967 album Surrealistic Pillow. It draws on imagery from Lewis Carroll’s books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Musically, it is a march, and like Ravel’s Bolero - a major influence on the song - it is essentailly one long cadenza that builds to a climax. It makes a fun tune for solo lap steel and a vehicle for improvisation.
