Since Hank Williams recorded Your Cheatin’ Heart in 1952 it has come to be regarded as one of Country music’s key standards. Williams was backed on the session by Tommy Jackson (fiddle), Don Helms (steel guitar), Chet Atkins (lead guitar), Jack Shook (rhythm guitar), and Floyd “Lightnin’” Chance (bass).
This PDF contains two arrangements of the song: a straightforward chord melody version and an embellished version that uses a swing feel for the intro, then reverts to a straight 8th feel for the remainder of the song. For the basic version, I’ve transcribed Don Helms’ intro from the original recording and converted it into C6th tuning.
C6th Tuning (playable on 6 or 8 string versions)

Note: computer-generated audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar
